Library News

Bookmark Competition
After much deliberation, we are excited to reveal this year’s library bookmarks:
Big congratulations to the winners, and a special thank you to our judges, and to everyone who took part! We were wowed by the standard of entries and will be excited to have the new bookmarks available in June, for students to take away with their library books!
Introducing Sora eBooks and Audiobooks
Sora is an extension of our library collection, offering students access to ebooks and audiobooks from anywhere. It provides access to books at home, or during school holidays, and students can use extra features when reading - like note-taking, adjustable text size, text-to-speech and translation options.
How does it work?
Students can download the free Sora app on a device, or visit the Sora webpage. The first time they use it they will need to select ‘Viewbank College’ from the list and sign in with their Viewbank email and Compass password.
The collection includes classics, the latest young adult fiction, graphic novels and manga.
Any questions? Come and see us in the library or email vbclibrary@viewbank.vic.edu.au.
Premiers’ Reading Challenge
This year is the 20th anniversary of the Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge and we are excited to be taking part! PRC is a personal challenge to read a set number of books by 5 September 2025, and it’s a fantastic way for students to get motivated to read more.
- To join, see us in the library or message vbclibrary (Teams or email)
- We’ll send out sign in details for the Challenge Dashboard
- Set a reading goal that works for you
- Log the books you read, find reading recommendations and read/write book reviews
- We will be rewarding student’s efforts with housepoints, and send regular updates in the Challenge Teams channel.
- Not sure where to start? See a list of the Year 7 and 8 or Year 9 and 10 books in the library.
Tech Free T-Days
Sometimes we all need a break from our screens so this year we have some Tech free break times.
