Asthma

We still have a number of outstanding students who’s plans and medication have not been supplied to the office.

A school asthma policy is a formal guideline that schools use to safely support students with Asthma. It ensures staff are prepared to prevent asthma triggers, recognize symptoms, and respond quickly in emergencies. 

Parents/carers must provide the school with an Asthma Action Plan which has been completed by the student’s medical practitioner. The plan must outline:

 ● the prescribed medication taken by the student and when it is to be administered, for example as a pre-medication to exercise or on a regular basis

 ● emergency contact details

 ● the contact details of the student’s medical practitioner

 ● the student’s known triggers

 ● the emergency procedures to be taken in the event of an asthma flare-up or attack 

All students diagnosed with asthma are required to have a student asthma kit at school which contains:

 ● their own prescribed reliever medication labelled with the student’s name

 ● their spacer (if they use one)

Student asthma kits will be stored in the first aid room. 

To ensure we are following our duty of care for Asthmatic students, we ask that you follow these guidelines as soon as possible.

If we do not have an up to date plan / medication it can result in your child/ren not being able to attend excursions and camps for their safety.

Glasses for Kids

Glasses for Kids School visited our school this week.

Students who participated in the Glasses for Kids school visit will receive an outcome report following their vision screening. Outcome report letters will be uploaded to Compass for families to access. If your child requires a follow-up appointment or further support, this information will be included in the report.

We were delighted to receive such positive feedback. The visiting team commented on how lovely, respectful, and well-behaved our students were throughout the visit.

Teeth on Wheels School Visit

During Weeks 1 and 2, the Teeth on Wheels dental team visited our school to provide dental check-ups for participating students. We were delighted to receive positive feedback, with the team commenting on how respectful, cooperative, and well-mannered our students were throughout the visit. Thank you to our families for supporting this valuable program.
