Litter Committee

Introducing the Truganina Litter Committee!
We're excited to introduce our latest student-led initiative – the Truganina Litter Committee!
Made up of a passionate group of Year 5 students – Aaminah, Minerva, Aarvi, Carol, Anika, Samayra and Hashir – this team is dedicated to making our school an even better place for everyone.
The committee has started a weekly litter clean-up to collect rubbish that is unfortunately left behind after recess and lunchtime. When I asked these students why they were so passionate about taking on this initiative, their responses were thoughtful, inspiring and incredibly convincing.
They told me they want:
- a beautiful school that everyone can be proud of;
- a clean environment for our younger students;
- a tidy and enjoyable place to play;
- to support our Facilities Team, who work hard every day to clean up after lunch; and
to protect the wildlife that shares our school environment, including the birds and other animals that call our College home.
This initiative is a wonderful example of student leadership in action. These students have identified a need in our community and have chosen to be part of the solution. We are incredibly proud of their commitment to caring for our College and inspiring others to do the same.
If you would like to get involved, the Truganina Litter Committee would love your help! Students are welcome to join the team at the start of lunchtime every Friday, meeting on the Brown Stage before heading off together to help keep our College clean and beautiful. The more helping hands, the bigger the impact we can make together!
Well done to Aaminah, Minerva, Aarvi, Carol, Anika, Samayra and Hashir for leading this fantastic initiative. We can't wait to see the committee continue to grow and make a positive difference across our College.
