Imperium - Wakakirri National Award
Trinity College’s performance ‘Echoes Beneath The Surface - Mind over Matter’ has been awarded a National Story-Dance Award in this year’s Wakakirri Story-Dance Festival!
This year there were 10896 participating students, from 185 schools.
“This year’s Wakakirri journey was about breaking stereotypes and supporting mental health through dance. In our all-boys school, students challenged the stigma that boys can’t express emotion or vulnerability.
Our performance shared the message that it’s okay to not be okay. Many students were new to dance, yet they embraced movement as a powerful outlet for connection, resilience, and healing. By standing together on stage, they not only broke down barriers around boys in dance but also opened conversations about mental health, showing strength in both expression and seeking support.”

This includes Woodwind, Brass, Strings, Percussion, Classical and Contemporary Guitar, Voice, Pipes & Drums, Piano, Pipe Organ, and Harp.
