Feast of St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Mary, Mother of Jesus

This month we we honour two great women of the Church: St Mary of the Cross MacKillop on August 8, and the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on August 15. We will celebrate each of these with a Mass in the morning. Our focus will be on how these two great saints showed such courage in their lives, and how much we can learn from them and be inspired by them.

World Youth Day

World Youth Day is taking place in Lisbon Portugal this week (1st-8th Aug). As we can’t all manage to go to Portugal, the Archdiocese of Adelaide is hosting a few events this weekend.

Mary MacKillop Cross

As part of its pilgrimage around Australia, our Parish is being given the opportunity to host the special Mary MacKillop Cross.

This cross is made from the floorboards of the first school established by Mary MacKillop in Penola and was made by the Penola branch of the Knights of the Southern Cross. The cross has been travelling all around the Archdiocese of Adelaide and I will let you know when it will be at our Parish.

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day

National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Children’s Day is celebrated on Friday 4th August. The theme this year is ‘Little Voices, Loud Futures’ and we thank Eli, Pauline and Dinika for sharing their voices about their family’s culture and for telling us about their future goals.

Made In The Image Of God

Our MITIOG curriculum will be beginning in week 7 of this term. Letters will be going out next week, however this year we are also offering 2 opportunities for parent workshops to discuss this curriculum in more detail and to answer any questions which you may have.

MITIOG Parent Workshops

Tuesday 15th August – 2:30-3:00 pm

Tuesday 15th August – 6:30-7:00 pm (whilst the library open evening is happening, the children will be supervised by staff members.)
