From the  Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Well it feels like Winter is finally upon us, as we welcome the rain, colder mornings and shorter days. I hope you've all had a pleasant week.

Sacrament of Reconciliation

It's been a busy week for a number of our Year 3 students and their families. Last Thursday night our students alongside their family members, participated in a beautiful prayerful and reflective evening led by Justin, Cara, Monica and Fr John to support their preparation for Reconciliation. On Wednesday evening this week a number of our Year 3 students and their families gathered together in the St Bede's Church to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. It was a very reverent and reflective occasion, and a pleasure to celebrate this milestone in the children's faith journey with many from our school community. This is such a special time for our Year 3's and we keep them all in our prayers as they reflect on their participation in this sacramental program.

Kaboom Sports

This Friday afternoon we are hopeful of the weather being kind to allow our students to participate in the re-scheduled Kaboom Sports activities that were planned for St Bede's Feast Day.

SRC Fundraiser

At our SRC meeting last week the students were enthusiastic about coming up with a fundraising idea to allow for additional contributions to our Mini Vinnies Winter Appeal Hampers. As a result the SRC voted to have a 'Wear Sporty Clothes' fundraiser for this Friday to accompany our Kaboom Sports Extravaganza! We encourage all students to bring a gold coin (or more) that can contribute towards supermarket gift cards to be put into our hampers. Thank you for your generosity!

Professional Development Day - Tuesday 10th June

Continuing with our whole school Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) approach and increased consistency of expectations for our students, our staff are very enthusiastic about participating in our upcoming PD Day. On Tuesday all of our staff will be participating in a MACS led Professional Development called 'Team Teach'.

Team Teach is a positive toolkit approach giving  practical de-escalation and crisis intervention strategies teachers can use to minimise risk and manage conflict safely and respectfully in the classroom.

Morning arrivals

Just a reminder that the gates open at 8.20am of a morning and children  are directed out to the back playground for a play (where there is a staff member on duty) until teachers open their classroom doors at 8.30am.

Running Club

As the weather gets a bit colder and wetter, we still encourage as many students to join us at our running club. It makes for a fantastic way to begin the school day. Our running club will continue on Friday mornings 8am at Myrtle Park. Please email Mr Price if you need any further details. NOTE: an email will be sent out in the event running club is cancelled due to the weather.

PREP Enrolments - the time to enrol is now!

Prep enrolments are continuing to come in and we are currently organising enrolment interviews.

If you know of someone who is yet to enrol their child please encourage them to do so ASAP. Prep Enrolment interviews are currently taking place.

Assemblies

We would love more parents to come along and enjoy our school assemblies with us! They are now held on a Monday afternoon at 2.30pm in the school hall. This term the remaining assemblies will be in weeks 9 and 11.

Wishing you all a restful and enjoyable upcoming long weekend.

Amanda
