Middle School Report

Middle School Team News

Term 3 was a busy and exciting time in Middle School, with students embracing opportunities to learn beyond the classroom, strengthen their wellbeing and put their creativity into action. From hiking through Werribee Gorge to imagining sustainable homes of the future, there has been plenty to celebrate!

Teen Mental Health First Aid

Our Year 10 students took part in Teen Mental Health First Aid training, a three-part course facilitated by our Secondary School Nurses with support from classroom teachers.

Designed specifically for young people aged 15 to 18, the program helps students recognise when a friend may be experiencing a mental health concern and learn how to offer support. Students also explored when to seek help from a trusted adult or other services, including during a mental health crisis. It was an opportunity to build the knowledge and confidence to look after one another.

Year 10 Business Carnival

The Year 10 Business Carnival brought a wonderful festival atmosphere to the school! Business Management students planned and funded their own market stalls, putting their entrepreneurial skills into practice and keeping the earnings from their businesses.

The carnival was a fantastic showcase of our students’ creativity, initiative and business acumen. It was wonderful to see their ideas come to life and the school community supporting their efforts.

Year 9 Advance: Werribee Gorge hike

Our Year 9 Advance students ventured outdoors for a hike at Werribee Gorge. As part of the Outdoor Education curriculum, the experience provided an opportunity to develop practical skills, resilience and teamwork while appreciating the natural environment.

The hike encouraged students to challenge themselves, support one another and enjoy the rewards of learning in the outdoors.

Year 10 Global Design Challenge: The Living Room Project

Year 10 students participated in The Living Room Project, a three-day Global Design Challenge focused on imagining a future in which people have equitable access to sustainable housing.

Students connected with peers across Australia and China, visited the Science Gallery and explored the EMERGENCE(Y) exhibition. They then took part in a design sprint, using digital software to prototype their ideas before sharing their proposed solutions.

This was an exciting opportunity for students to collaborate across borders, think creatively and consider how design can help address real-world challenges.

Dangers of Gambling seminar

As part of IMPACT, Year 10 students participated in a Dangers of Gambling seminar. The session encouraged students to think critically about the risks associated with gambling and consider the potential impact it can have on individuals and communities.

Looking ahead: Year 9 Camp

There is more to look forward to, with our Year 9 students heading to Phillip Island for camp from 9 to 11 November. Camp promises to be a wonderful opportunity for students to connect with their peers, try new experiences and create lasting memories. We look forward to sharing more about their adventures!

Thank you to our students and staff for making Middle School such a vibrant and supportive community. We are proud of the enthusiasm, creativity and determination our students have shown so far this term, and we look forward to celebrating more of their achievements and adventures in the weeks ahead!

Dance Academy News

It has been an exciting time for our Dance Academy students, with plenty of opportunities to perform and share their talent with the school community!

A major highlight was performing at half-time during the RHS versus Reservoir Police NBA event. Our dancers did a spectacular job presenting their Commercial Troupe routine to Instruction, bringing energy, confidence and enthusiasm to the performance. We are incredibly proud of their efforts and the way they represented the Dance Academy.

Our dancers also represented Performing Arts at the Reservoir High School Art and Technology Show, showcasing their skills and contributing to a wonderful celebration of creativity across the school.

Looking ahead, students are busy preparing a new routine for the incoming Year 7 students at their 2027 Orientation Day. This is always an exciting opportunity to introduce future students to the Dance Academy, share what makes the program special and hopefully inspire some new dancers to join us!

Congratulations to all our Dance Academy students on their hard work and performances. We look forward to seeing them continue to shine!
