Dear SMCM Community, Wominjeka!

Welcome Back to Term 3!

A new term brings fresh possibilities and excitement for learning and working together. This term, we look forward to celebrating a number of special events as a community, including Grandparents & Special Friends Day, the Sacrament of Confirmation, 100 Days of School for our Preps, Mary MacKillop Feast Day, Book Week, Celebration of Learning, and Sports Colours Day. We hope families can join us for these wonderful occasions!

Capital Works Update

Our newly refurbished Lane Building has been warmly embraced by staff and students this week. Over the holidays, new glass partitions and sliding doors were installed, creating a more flexible and functional learning space. This $210,000 project was funded through school cash reserves, proceeds from this year’s SMCM Community Fair, and our Shop for Schools winnings.

Feast of St Anne & St Joachim

Thank you to the grandparents and special friends who joined us this afternoon to celebrate the Feast Day of St Anne and St Joachim, Jesus’ grandparents. It was wonderful to see students proudly showing their grandparents around our school and to see our visitors engaging so enthusiastically in the activities.

Saints Joachim and Anne Patron Saints of Grandparents 

God of our fathers, you gave Saints Anne and Joachim the privilege of being the Parents of Mary, the mother of your incarnate Son. 

May their prayers help us to attain the salvation you have promised to your people. 

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Parent Reading Information Evening

Next Wednesday, 30th July, parents and carers are invited to attend our Parent Reading Information Evening at 7:00pm. This session will offer valuable insights into how reading is taught at SMCM and how you can best support your child at home. For more details, please see the Learning & Teaching section of today’s newsletter.
