Thankyou XLAM!!

XLAM Supports Our Woodwork Classes

Shane Jarvis works for XLAM, based in North Baranduda. Part of the Hyne Group, XLAM manufactures timber panels for the construction industry, providing sustainable building materials and environmentally responsible building solutions.

As a former student of Mount Beauty Secondary College, Shane recognised an opportunity last year to give back to the school by donating leftover timber for use in our woodwork classes.

Shane and the team at XLAM have done it again! Last week, the school received another generous trailer load of timber, which will be put to great use by our students in the workshop. A huge thank you to Shane and the team at XLAM for their ongoing generosity and support of our students and school community. Your contribution is greatly appreciated!

Product Design and Technologies

Amelia W has explored her passion for textiles by completing Units 3&4 Product Design and Technologies as a subject through Virtual School Victoria.

This subject had a practical component, which required Amelia to follow a design brief, generate a solution and then create that solution for a client.

Amelia’s final products for her folio were a halter neck top in stretch fabric, and a customised pair of jeans, using beading as a decorative process.

Well done on persisting with a difficult pattern and challenging thick seams!
