This term the students in 3A are currently exploring the Inquiry question, “How might relationships and collaboration shape resilient communities?”
The unit started with a look at who we are as individuals, what is a community and what communities we are a part of. As a part of this investigation the students created an image of themselves which they decorated to reflect their physical features. On the inside they described themselves as a person; sharing their hobbies, personalities and skills. On the outside they listed all the different communities that they are a part of. Their creations are on display in the classroom and some of them can be viewed in this article.
Below are some reflections from the students:
Aishira: I learned that we are involved in many communities, even ones we don’t visit often. People have different cultural communities and we should respect them.
Atilla: Communities are for everyone. Communities are where people meet together and have things in common.
Isabella: Communities are a place or environment where you belong and are important to you.
