SPORT

Semester 3 has returned with some very interesting weather patterns - foggy and freezing in the mornings, and quite warm by the afternoons.  The Grade 3 class were nearly lost in the fog on Tuesday morning, but they happily performed extra laps and star jumps to keep warm...  And by Wednesday afternoon the 1 & 2 cohort were all really quite hot and worked up a sweat!!

We've commenced with an introduction to football, with a large focus being on correct kicking action.  It was great to see some children have instant improvement just from holding the ball correctly!  It has been great to reconnect with everyone and hear all their happy holiday adventures.

ART

To kick start Art off this term we celebrated NAIDOC week (which was last week) by learning about some tradition Aboriginal basket weaving, boab fruit carving (Mrs Hill brought in a special carved boab  she got from the Kimberley's), artwork, yarning circles and learning about some symbols and animal tracks. Students then had a go at making their own yarning sticks and artworks using symbols. DIGITECH

This week in Drama, students have been exploring how we use body language and voice to communicate a character's emotions. We sang 'Boom Chicka Boom' in different styles - like grumpy, excited, happy and as various animals! Students in 5/6 also played a game called 'Why Are You Late?' where students mime typing between miming a silly story of why someone might be late to work. Their coworker has to guess what the story is before the boss fires everyone for not typing!
