Learning & teaching Term 3 - Week 3
NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) provides valuable information about students' progress in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. The assessment is just one of many tools' schools use to understand student learning and identify areas where additional support or extension may be beneficial.
This year, students demonstrated resilience and commitment throughout the testing period. While NAPLAN results offer a useful insight of achievement, they do not define a student's abilities or potential. Classroom assessments, teacher observations and everyday learning continue to provide the most comprehensive picture of student progress.
Families received individual student reports, which showed how their child's performance compared with national proficiency standards. We encourage parents and carers to view these results as an opportunity to celebrate strengths and discuss future learning goals.
Thank you to our students, staff and families for their support during the NAPLAN process. Together, we remain focused on fostering a positive learning environment where every student can grow, achieve and succeed.
On Monday, our Foundation students enjoyed an exciting Mad About Science incursion, where they explored the fascinating world of weather through hands-on experiments and engaging demonstrations. Mad About Science are passionate science education specialists who deliver fun, interactive, and memorable workshops aligned with the Australian Curriculum, inspiring students to learn through discovery.
As part of the workshop, students investigated the science behind different weather phenomena, including rain, condensation, evaporation and steam. They were amazed to witness a tornado in a bottle and learned how UV light can affect our skin. Throughout the session, they discovered many interesting facts about the weather and the world around them.
The excitement continued as students took home UV beads and their very own "snow in a bag", giving them a fun reminder of a fantastic day of scientific learning.

OVERDUE LIBRARY BOOKS
Please remind your child to return any overdue library books. Currently, we have a total of 130 books that are overdue, and some students are eager to borrow these titles. Your cooperation helps ensure everyone has access to the books they are excited to read.
BOOKWEEK 2026
This year, Book Week runs from Monday, 24th August to Friday, 28th August.
The theme is "Symphony of Stories".
Dress Up Day will be held on Monday 24th August. More information to follow in the coming weeks.
