It’s a wrap!

Yesterday, the Year 12 students attended their last ever classes of their school careers. Today, they were allowed to celebrate this significant accomplishment. After enjoying some shenanigans this morning, they shared morning tea with the staff. We would like to thank each and every one of our students for their contributions and their commitment to the College. They have been great ambassadors, both in the school and the wider community.

For those students sitting exams in the coming weeks, we wish you all the best with your future pursuits and encourage you to work hard during the coming weeks, giving your exams your best shop.

For the Vocational students, who do not sit exams as part of their VCE course, we wish you the best of luck with all that lies ahead, be that seeking or commencing employment, or undertaking further study.

Year 11 Biology Fieldwork

Each year, the Year 11 Biology students are allowed to choose a location at which to undertake fieldwork to analyse different species adaptations, and their relationships within an ecosystem. On Friday, students travelled to Melbourne Zoo to complete this work. They managed to expertly dodge rain showers and seagulls, who wanted their chips at lunch time to get around the zoo and learn lots about a variety of species. They behaved exceptionally and enjoyed themselves immensely.

Making a difference – Working in the clean energy sector

Monday 30th October 5pm – 6pm

A third of Australia’s electricity already is generated by renewables. Over the next 30 years, new wind and solar farms, batteries, rooftop solar installations, and hydro projects will need to be built.

This webinar will explore the working lives, school and career pathways of two young women who have opted to work in the clean energy sector. It is designed to give secondary students insights into careers in this sector and the opportunity to ask questions.

Year 10 Mental Health Training - Outside the Locker Room: NEXT WEDNESDAY

As part of the year 10 Health curriculum, students have the opportunity to complete a mental health education session, with Todd from Outside the Locker Room.

The session is based on guidelines developed through the expert consensus of people with lived experience of mental health problems and professionals. The course equips teenagers with the skills to recognise and respond to a friend who may be experiencing a mental health problem or crisis situation. Using a practical, evidence-based action plan, the students hope to build the confidence needed to support a friend until appropriate professional help is received or the crisis resolves.

The Year 10’s will have this session during Health on Wednesday the 25th of October.
