School Council meeting 23rd March 2026

School Council met for two meetings on the 23rd March 2026 including to farewell retiring school councillors and elect new office bearers. 

 

At the first meeting we welcomed new school councillors, Jason Bell, Anna Gbikpi-Benissan, Kristy Bedford (returning) and Rick Bottiglieri (returning). We farewelled Ben Gibson and Tom Rundle, who have completed their Council terms, and thanked them both for their outstanding service, Ben as Vice President, and Tom as Treasurer.  

 

At the second meeting, Council elected new office bearers – Rick Bottiglieri to continue as School Council President, Daniel Bevz as the new Vice President and Jason Bell as the new Treasurer. 

 

We commenced with a discussion of the first Junior School Council (JSC) meeting for 2026. JSC met to receive their JSC badges and were welcomed to the role. 

 

Jarrod provided his Principal’s report by thanking outgoing councillors and welcoming new councillors. Based on Council’s self-assessment undertaken at the February meeting, Jarrod noted governance training and strategic planning workshops had been arranged for Council members in April and July. 

 

Jarrod provided an update on the Annual Implementation Plan (AIP) noting the AIP for this year been endorsed by the SEIL (Senior Education Improvement Leader). The Education Committee will discuss the AIP at its next meeting. 

 

Jarrod provided an update on the school Annual Report, councillors and community are invited to the Annual General Meeting in May where we share the full report. 

 

The Resources Committee minutes were tabled. The Committee approved the 2026 Fundraising Program at its last meeting: 

 

Term 1:

  • Movie Night – Friday 20th March 2026
  • Hot Cross Bun Drive – Orders delivered 1st April 2026

Term 3

  • Trivia Night and Auction – Saturday 8th of August

Term 4

  • Election Day BBQ and Bake Sale – Saturday 28th November
  • Christmas Raffle – December 2026 – Drawn Friday 18th December 

 

The Resources Committee approved School Purchasing Card reports for January 2026, approved financial reports for the MVIMP program and discussed a grounds update regarding repairs and works. 

 

The Community Engagement Parent Representative Group minutes were shared. The main item was Jarrod’s presentation of Child Safety training for volunteers. Parent representatives discussed communications with their classes around key events such as movie night and the hot cross bun fundraiser. 

 

There was no meeting held for the Education and Policy Committee. 

 

Council approved Standing Orders and the Code of Conduct Policy. 

 

The next School Council meeting is scheduled for 25th of May 2026.
