Week 8 Update!

The end of another brilliant term is getting closer; only 3 weeks left.  We are very proud of the teaching and learning that has been happening across the school. As previously mentioned, we have had a large focus on explicitly teaching our values and learner qualities. This will continue throughout the year. This approach is a foundation for developing successful learners who are ready for learning.

Learning Conferences

This week, we started our Term 1 Learning Conferences.

Reflecting, setting goals and identifying evidence to indicate growth are essential processes for students to improve. This approach is also identified as one of the 10 High Impact Teaching Strategies (HITS) that is vital for student success.

Well-known educational researcher John Hattie, through his extensive meta-analysis of thousands of educational research findings, states that "establishing challenging goals, rather than 'do your best' goals, is a more effective way of setting expectations for students. Difficult yet achievable goals have an energising effect which motivates students to strive to the highest levels".

We are really looking forward to tracking student goals and seeing their growth over the remainder of Semester 1.

NAPLAN

Congratulations to all our Year 3 and 5 students on successfully completing NAPLAN. We are super proud of the effort, focus, and resilience shown throughout the assessments and appreciate the positive attitude students brought to each session.

LNPS has a strong record of achievement in NAPLAN. In previous years, LNPS has outperformed many nearby government schools and many local private schools, highlighting the strength of our teaching and learning and the dedication of our students. When compared with schools across the state, LNPS has continued to stand out as a leader in academic performance. We look forward to seeing our results later this year.

SFD

At Monday night's Governing Council Meeting, the following Student Free Days was approved.

  • Monday 11th May (Term 2 Week 3)

Could families please add this dates to their calendars.  Further days will be confirmed early next term for terms 3 and 4.

Morphett Redevelopment

If you have been past Morphett recently you will have noticed that the redevelopment has progressed well but we have now hit a stop point. We are currently waiting for further recommendations from the builders and engineers. At this stage, we are unable to advise the new completion date. Once we have any updates we will let everyone know.

Camps

Our Year 4-6 Students and staff are really exciting as camps are nearly hear!

LNPS has a long-standing tradition of students attending camp, and these experiences are highly valued by students, staff, and the community. They are consistently highlighted as memorable moments in our Year 6 Graduation speeches.

In Week 10, our Year 4 students will attend Narnu Farm, followed by Year 5 at Illawonga and Year 6 at Yorkes in Week 11. We are incredibly proud of our students for demonstrating high levels of resilience on our our learner qualities,as they take on these challenges, and we thank our staff for their dedication and commitment in making each camp such a memorable experience.
