HUB NEWS

Throughout the school, and the HUB, The Zones of Regulation is a widely adopted framework for supporting the emotional well-being of students, originally developed in response to challenges observed in educational settings. It is built on the understanding that self-regulation is not a born trait, but a skill that can be taught, practiced, and strengthened over time. The approach emphasizes the importance of supportive relationships and environments in helping individuals develop these skills.
At the heart of the framework is a simple, visual system that organizes emotions and levels of alertness into four color-coded Zones: Blue, Green, Yellow, and Red. This structure provides a common language that makes it easier for learners of all ages to identify, understand, and communicate their feelings.
The Zones of Regulation offers practical strategies for managing emotions and sensory needs. It also promotes co-regulation, encouraging educators, caregivers, and peers to actively support one another. Designed to be flexible and inclusive, the framework can be used across classrooms and homes, helping individuals build emotional awareness, resilience, and stronger social connections. What zone are you in?
