🌿 Kitchen Garden – Autumn is Here!

Our Kitchen Garden has been buzzing with life again as we welcome a fresh season of growing, cooking and hands‑on learning. With baskets of herbs, eggs and plenty of teamwork in the kitchen, our students have created another colourful spread of delicious dishes.

🍽️ What We Cooked

Herb Pilaf

Students cooked a fragrant herb pilaf using a mix of freshly picked garden herbs. It was a wonderful chance to explore how different flavours come together and how simple ingredients can become something truly comforting.

Cannellini & Sour Cream Dip

This creamy dip was smooth, tangy and perfect for scooping up with some crunchy carrot sticks. Students loved seeing how quickly a few ingredients could transform into something so tasty.

Spring Onion Dip

Our second dip of the week was a bright and zesty spring onion dip. With freshly chopped spring onions from the garden, it was full of flavour and disappeared fast.

Passionfruit & Lemon Refreshers

Students squeezed lemons and scooped passionfruit to create cool, refreshing drinks. The sweet–tart flavours were the perfect match for all the yummy food we made together.

Potato Frittata

Using garden grown potatoes and herbs, students whisked and chopped their way to a golden, veggie‑packed frittata. It was a great reminder of how easy it is to turn fresh produce into a hearty meal.

🌻 In the Garden

After a sunny weekend, two of our long‑awaited sunflowers finally opened their bright faces to the sky.

Learning About Garden Tools

Students have also been exploring the tools we use in the garden — what each one does, how to care for them and most importantly, how to use them safely. From trowels to secateurs, they’re building confidence and respect for the equipment that helps us grow.

A Generous Donation from Bunnings

We were thrilled to receive a donation of beautiful new seedlings from Bunnings. The children have already been busy planting them into our garden beds, helping us prepare for a productive new

season ahead.

SAKG Book Covers

Earlier this term, students created their own front covers for their SAKG books, taking time to decorate them with drawings, colours and ideas that reflect their experiences in the garden and kitchen.
