LIBRARY NEWS:

Could children please return any overdue books before borrowing new books.

The Victorian Premier's Reading Challenge is now OPEN!

From March until 5 September 2025, students are invited to register, read and review books, and be in the running for some fun prizes.

The Challenge encourages children and students to read a set number of books over the year and record their efforts online.

Rules

Participating students in Prep to Grade 6 need to:

  1. Register as a Challenger on the Challenge application [https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/home].
  2. Read a certain number of books during the Challenge, as shown below. Students in Prep, Year 1 and Year 2 can read books by themselves or with someone else.
  3. Get the Challenge coordinator [me] to verify that they have read the books registered online.
  4. Make sure all their information is completed online by 5 September 2025 to be eligible for some wonderful prizes. All participating students will receive a certificate.

Number of books students need to read

Prep to Year 2

  • Number of books: 30

Year 3 to Year 6

  • Number of books: 15

Teachers, please let me know if you would like a list of students’ usernames and passcodes for their registration.

I will display a few suggested reading lists around the library for some inspiration.

What they can read

Most of the books should be from the Challenge book lists [https://vprc.eduweb.vic.gov.au/searchbooklist]. The rest can be any book they choose. We have hundreds to choose from in the library.

Please let me know if you have any questions or need assistance registering the students.

Below are some suggested books for each year level.

Happy reading!

If you are interested in taking part please come and see me at the library to enrol.
