School Council News

Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to advise that the School Council has approved a variation to the school day on Monday 30 March to support the successful delivery of our annual Open Night.
The school day will Commence 8:50am and Conclude 2:20pm. Students will therefore finish 50 minutes earlier than usual.
This adjustment will allow both staff and students appropriate time to prepare for our Open Night (4:00pm – 6:30pm) , one of the most significant events on our college calendar. Open Night plays a critical role in promoting our college to prospective families and the broader community. It provides us with the opportunity to showcase the outstanding learning culture, programs, facilities and student leadership that define our school.
Preparation for this event involves classroom set-ups, rehearsals, technology preparation, student briefings and site presentation. The shortened day will:
- Provide staff with structured time to finalise displays and presentations.
- Allow student leaders and performers time to rehearse and prepare.
- Support staff wellbeing by avoiding an extended continuous workday.
- Ensure the event is delivered professionally and at the high standard our community expects.
Importantly, our total instructional hours for the year remain compliant, with this minor adjustment absorbed within existing time allocations across the school year.
Students who require supervision until their usual bus time or collection arrangements are able to remain at school, and appropriate supervision will be provided.
We appreciate your support and understanding. We look forward to welcoming many of you to the Open Night Evening as we proudly showcase Cheltenham Secondary College to our future families.
Kind regards,
Karl Russell
Principal
