Senior Girls Cricket

Our Senior Girls Cricket, once again, have their season off to a great start. Taking the win against MacRob in the Beachside round, the Chelt.Sec team posted impressive scores on our home ground at Chelt.Sec. MacRob were kept to an innings total of 88, with one wicket from Hayley, two wickets from Annabel and Grace, which included a stump breaking delivery. Hayley went on to score 50 runs to help Cheltenham to the win.

Moving on to the Southern Metro Regional quarter final against Frankston yesterday, where Cheltenham, again, put their best foot forward. The Chelt girls set a target of 160, with Grace top scoring on 47 not out and Ruby 30 not out. Frankston were dismissed for 92, Annabel taking four wickets and Emily taking 3 catches. Congratulations to new team player, Ashley, on your outstanding fielding.

For several years now our Senior Girls cricket team has consisted of a varying age group, with our senior, intermediate and junior players all joining one team. We are fortunate that community cricket clubs, such as Le Page Park, have offered girls such wonderful opportunities to learn, practice their skills and enjoy the game of cricket.

Le Page Park - All Girls Cricket Competition

Beachside Swimming

After successful swims at last week's House Carnival, our first place students were invited to the Beachside Division carnival on Friday 6th March. Members of our swimming team can enter up to five individual events plus relays. Taking on some very strong competition from Albert Park, Melbourne High, Mentone Girls, and MacRob, our kids can be very proud of themselves.

Mr Smart and Ms Hargreaves are extremely proud of their efforts and willingness to have a go. The day was off to a flying start when our first student in the pool, Leon A., came first in the Boys 16-20 Years 200m Freestyle. All the students enjoyed the event, with mixed results for each of them. Wonderful effort from Ethan A., who was awarded the Under 17 overall champion.

Mr. Smart and Ms Hargreaves are not only proud of our students as swimmers but as community-minded young people. At big events, such as interschool swimming, students are often asked to do duties. Chelt.Sec students have been nothing short of fabulous when asked to take on the roll of judging and place sorting.

Thank you students Harrison R., Jack B., Aidan K., Julian H., Ethan A., Julian R., Leon A., Olive S., Charlotte W. & Dylan A.
