What's making news this fortnight?

It’s hard to believe we’re almost at the halfway point of Term Four! The next few weeks will be full of exciting events and celebrations as we begin wrapping up what has been an incredible year of growth and achievement across both campuses.

Student-Free Days

A reminder that there will be no school on Monday 3 November and Tuesday 4 November due to our Staff Time in Lieu day and the Melbourne Cup Public Holiday. We hope everyone enjoys the extended long weekend and takes some time to rest and recharge before the busy final stretch of term.

2026 Planning

Our Leadership Team and School Council are deep in planning for 2026; including staffing, class groupings, programs, and curriculum updates. We’re particularly excited to be launching the ASDAN curriculum next year for a number of our Senior Years students. This provides an alternative pathway to the Victorian Pathways Certificate and offers engaging, hands-on learning experiences that promote independence and real-world skill development.

What an incredible day our Superhero Fun Run turned out to be! A massive thank you to Ashley (Junior Campus), Matt (Senior Campus), and Clarise for their outstanding organisation of the event. Everything from the weather, to the music, to the energy and costumes was perfect. It was fantastic to see our students (and staff!) having such a great time celebrating fitness, fun, and community spirit together.

Senior Years Camp

Earlier this week, our Senior Years students headed off to Camp Kookaburra for two days of fun, teamwork, and new experiences. Students had an amazing time taking part in a range of activities and showed great enthusiasm and cooperation throughout. It was wonderful for staff to see our students learning and thriving in a different environment — all round, a very successful camp!

World Teachers’ Day

Today (Friday 31 October) marks World Teachers’ Day, a time to recognise the incredible work and dedication of our teaching staff. We are incredibly proud of all our teachers at Banmira — from our classroom and specialist teachers (Art, Music Therapy, and P.E.) to our teachers in training and our Leading Teachers Jo, Sam, Andrew, and Kayla. Thank you for your passion, commitment, and care for our students every single day.

Year 12 Graduation

Year 12 Graduation is on Thursday 27th November. Invitations have been sent home and need to be returned to school by 6th November. If your child is in Year 12 and you need another invite please call the front office to arrange.

A reminder that the last day of school for Year 12 students is on Friday 28th November.

Reminder: our SunSmart policy requires all students to wear a broad-brimmed hat when outside.

As we move into the final few weeks of the year, there’s a wonderful buzz across the school — students are excitedly preparing for upcoming celebrations, transitions, and end-of-year events. Thank you to our staff, students, and families for your ongoing support and enthusiasm as we finish the year strong together.
