Eastern Metropolitan Region Athletics Finals
On Thursday October 23rd, students from Auburn South Primary competed in the Eastern Metropolitan and Regional Athletics Finals. This is a gateway to competing in the State Finals and it was amazing to see that there were so many students from the school qualify for what is an extremely high level of competition.
I am delighted to announce the following students have made the State Finals this year:
- Lewie L - 1st in 12 boys 1500m & 1st in 800m
- Juan D - 2nd in 11 boys 1500m & 1st in 800m
- Jonah T - placed 3rd in 11 boys 800m
I would like to congratulate the following students representing Auburn South on the day with top 10 placings:
- Hugh S - 7th in high jump
- Grace T - 4th in 200m & 7th in 100m sprints
- Alfie R - 7th in long jump
- Boys 4 x 100m relay team consisting of Juan D, Jonas N, James R and Sam V finished in 4th place.
A terrific achievement by all the students involved and we wish Juan and Lewie all the best in the State finals.
Kind regards,
Ravi Parhar
Division Hotshots Tennis
The sounds of bouncing tennis balls across the tennis courts welcomed us to the Hot Shots division! We, Jasmine and Olivia, are going to tell you our experience throughout our competition. Though rain pours down, puddles fill our shoes, and the wind blows through our hair, we are still standing with a tennis racket in our hands and a smile on our face. We have had determination written all over our team spirit, we have made it so far, we would never give up now! With a few matches, our faces ended with a grin, but few ended with a frown. Since a few of the members in our team weren't able to join, we have recruited a few members to join tennis. At first, it took a few moments to adjust the new players but it ended up to be spectacular, giving a huge helping hand to the team.
We still raise our chin up as we walk off the court, to find out results. We have been on the list for competing in the grand finals! We walked to face the Grand Finals stressed, but excited for the opportunity to represent our school. Though it was tough, the day ended with points being 7-6 to Greythorn. We were proud of what we have achieved, and grateful for the chance to participate in such a great competition. It will be a memory of a lifetime for many of us.
The team included:
