Dear parents and carers,

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Community

On Tuesday, 29 October 2025, our school came together for a deeply moving Anniversary Acknowledgment Service, marking one year since the tragic accident that took the life of Jack Davey and left four of our students injured.

It was a time for reflection, remembrance, and gratitude a moment that reminded us of the incredible strength, compassion, and unity within our school and wider community.

We would like to express our sincere thanks to everyone who attended and supported this important occasion.

To our students, families, and staff - your presence and care continue to embody the true spirit of our community. Your kindness and support have carried us through an incredibly difficult year. Thank you to Necole and Sam for coordinating the afternoon tea.

We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our colleagues from the Department of Education, our Regional Director, Karen Money, and staff from neighbouring schools for their attendance and ongoing support. A special thank you also goes to Marcus, the Davey family, and all who spoke so thoughtfully and courageously during the service  your words offered comfort, strength, and hope.

Our sincere thanks to Balwyn High School for generously loaning their chaplain, who led the service with such care and compassion, and to our own Koorie education coordinator Mark Lumley for delivering the Acknowledgment of Country.

In moments like these, we are reminded of what truly defines us, friendship, empathy, and community. It was heartening to see so many people stand together in support and remembrance.

On behalf of our entire school, thank you for helping us honour Jack’s memory and for continuing to walk alongside us as we heal and move forward together.

Camp

We would like to wish our Year 4 students a fantastic time as they head off to Camp Arrabri in Warburton this Wednesday 13 November.

This is always such an exciting time in the school year, full of adventure, teamwork and new experiences in the great outdoors!

We hope everyone enjoys the beautiful surroundings, tries something new and makes lots of happy memories with friends. Most importantly we hope you all stay safe, look after each other and let your teachers get at least a little bit of sleep!

Have a wonderful time year 4. We can’t wait to hear all about your adventures when you return!

City to South

A huge congratulations to our year 6 students on completing the 8km City to South Run this morning! What an amazing effort from everyone.

It was a warm morning, but our students showed great determination, teamwork and spirit all the way to the finish line.

A big thank you to our Year 6 teachers for their organisation and encouragement and to the many parents who volunteered their time to support the event and help out at the drink stations, your assistance made all the difference.

It was also wonderful to see so many of our athletic teachers out on the course, leading by example and cheering on our students.

Well done everyone. What a great achievement and a fantastic way to celebrate fitness, perseverance, resilience and community.

Kind regards,

Travis

Cheers to 100 Year of ASPS

Policies in the Spotlight : Child Safety Policy

At Auburn South, keeping our students safe, happy and supported is at the heart of everything we do. Our Child Safety and Wellbeing Policy outlines how we create a caring and inclusive environment where every child feels valued and protected. It explains the responsibilities of staff, volunteers and families in promoting safety and outlines how we respond to any concerns. The policy has been recently reviewed as part of our preliminary work for the school review next year. You can read the full policy on our school website

Updated ASPS Volunteer Handbook

We have a newly updated Volunteer Handbook, we encourage all parents to have a read of this document.

For new volunteers, if you would like to help on any upcoming excursions, SAKG and/or Canteen, please read the handbook and complete the form on the back of the pack and submit it along with a copy of your valid WWCC at the school office.
