Celebrating Reading in Term 3

Term 3 is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the joy of reading at Beaumaris Primary School. Developing strong reading habits is one of the most important ways families can support their child’s learning. Whether students read independently, share a book with a family member, or listen to someone read aloud, regular reading at home helps build vocabulary, fluency, knowledge and a lifelong love of learning.

A consistent nightly reading routine, even for a short amount of time, makes a significant difference. Across classrooms, students will continue to develop their reading skills, explore new texts and share their love of stories with others.

Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge

The Victorian Premiers’ Reading Challenge is underway, and there are still 47 days left to complete the Challenge! So far, our students have read 491 books, and six students have already completed the Challenge - congratulations!

This year’s theme is “Stories to discover. Stories to tell.” Stories can inspire and challenge us, helping us explore new worlds, develop empathy and discover new ways of thinking.

All children who successfully complete the Challenge will receive a certificate of achievement signed by the Victorian Premier.

Please reach out to your child’s teacher or the office if you require another copy of login details.

We are also looking forward to celebrating CBCA Book Week 2026 in Term 3. This year’s theme is “Symphony of Stories”, celebrating the many different voices, characters and adventures that come together through books.

Book Week is a special opportunity to celebrate Australian children’s literature, encourage a love of reading and share the stories that inspire our imaginations.

Our Book Week celebrations will include incursions, the BPS Short Story Competition, and our much-loved Book Character Assembly and Parade on Friday 28th August. Students are invited to dress as their favourite book character and celebrate the wonderful world of books with our school community.

We look forward to seeing our students immersed in books, sharing recommendations and celebrating the power of reading throughout Term 3!
