Supporting Student Wellbeing
At our school, student wellbeing is a priority. One of the tools we use to support students is the Children’s Wellbeing Continuum. This continuum helps children identify and communicate how they are feeling by providing a simple and age-appropriate ways to discuss emotions and wellbeing.
Teachers may use the continuum during individual check-ins or conversations with students to better understand their emotional needs and provide appropriate support. The tool encourages children to develop emotional awareness, build their emotional vocabulary, and recognise that all feelings are valid and important to talk about.
Regular use of the Children’s Wellbeing Continuum helps foster positive relationships between students and teachers, promotes self-reflection, and supports the development of healthy wellbeing habits. By giving children a safe and supportive way to express their feelings, we can work together to ensure they feel connected, understood, and ready to learn.
As part of our ongoing commitment to student wellbeing, staff also have access to a range of Mental Health in Primary Schools (MHiPS) resources and information to support the wellbeing needs of all students.
