End of Term events

As we approach the end of the term I would like to give a big thank you to the staff who have worked so hard to make the school days interesting and engaging for all the students at Catherine McAuley.  I would also like to pass on my thanks to our PACE and Sacramental teams for the way they continue to support our school community.

We have some exciting events still on the calendar, the first being Book Week celebrations on Tuesday 22 September.  A gentle reminder that no inflatable costumes are to be worn.  

This will be followed by McAuley Day on Thursday 24 September and the PACE Colour Run on Friday 25 September at Perry Oval.  More information about each of the events will be shared via Compass.   Families are invited along to all of these events so I hope to see you there.

Lockdown Drill

Earlier this week, our school conducted a lockdown drill as part of our regular emergency preparedness procedures.

The purpose of the drill was to ensure that students and staff understand what to do and how to remain safe in the unlikely event of an emergency requiring the school to go into lockdown. These drills help us practise our procedures, identify any areas that may need improvement, and ensure our school community is prepared to respond calmly and safely.

We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and prepared school environment. Please be assured that this was a planned practice exercise and there was no actual emergency.

Keeping our Students Safe

At Catholic Education Diocese of Bathurst, keeping our students safe, valued, respected and cared for, as well as protected, is our highest priority. 

The rapid growth of accessible generative AI tools has introduced new risks around how photos and videos are copied, altered or redistributed online and in response to this, we are updating how we share student photos and identities on our public social media channels as well as other online platforms.

What’s changing?

To safeguard our students' privacy and long-term digital footprint, you will notice a shift toward wider-angle group photos, reduced close-up individual images, images from behind, and the removal of student names on public platforms. 

We know how much our community loves celebrating school life, and we remain dedicated to sharing the achievements of our students. However, adapting to emerging digital risks allows us to keep our students safe while continuing to showcase their incredible learning journeys. Thank you for your understanding, partnership, and ongoing support as we take these proactive steps together.
