Principal's Report

As we move through a busy and productive Term 3, I want to share several important updates with our Pioneer Village School community.

WASP Parent Payments Reminder

A reminder that the WA Student Assistance Payment is now available for eligible parents and caregivers. For more information and to submit your claim, please visit:

http://www.education.wa.edu.au/wasp/

To complete your claim, you will need your child’s 8-digit WA Student Number. If you do not have this number, please contact the school, and we will be happy to provide it.

Planning for 2027 – Staffing and Class Structures

We are currently in the early stages of planning staffing and class configurations for 2027. This process relies heavily on accurate enrolment projections. A Letter of Intent was sent to families via ClassDojo and Audiri last week. If your family is not planning to remain at PVS in 2027, please provide written notification to the office by 25 September. This helps us plan effectively and maintain stability across our school.

Staff Professional Learning – AI Literacy

Our Teaching staff recently completed AI Literacy training with Simon Fittock from AISWA. This professional learning covered current legislation, safe and ethical use of AI in schools, and practical strategies for navigating emerging technologies. This ensures our team remains well‑informed and confident in supporting students in a rapidly evolving digital landscape. Families interested in understanding more can explore AI in Education.

Values Program – Semester 2

Our refreshed Values Program has truly taken off this semester. Students have been doing a fantastic job demonstrating our values across classrooms, specialist areas, and playground settings.

This week we held our first VIP Token Draw, with students selected from each faction receiving a prize. Each student who receives a VIP also earns one faction point, contributing to the running tally. The Values Shield competition is already close, and the winning faction at the end of the term will enjoy a special reward. Families can revisit how the program works through VIP Tokens and Values Shield.

Learning Journey – Coming Soon

Please keep an eye out for information being shared shortly about our Learning Journey event. This year’s theme aligns with Science Week: “Seeds of Science – Nurturing Knowledge for All.”

The event will feature:

  • Showcases from several local businesses
  • Displays from our specialist and classroom teaching teams
  • Hands‑on activities for students
  • A dedicated area for prospective families to speak with staff and access enrolment information
  • P&F will also be operating a sausage sizzle and a coffee van will be present.

If you have friends or family considering Pioneer Village School, please warmly encourage them to attend the Learning Journey. It is a wonderful opportunity to see our school in action.

Thank you for your ongoing participation in our school events and initiatives this term. Your support strengthens our community and helps us continue providing a rich, values‑driven learning environment for every child.
