Notes from the Principal

Stadium Opening

We celebrated the official opening of our school stadium on Sunday 5th October.  Thank you to everyone who joined us in this long awaited celebration. Thank you to Peter Watt for supplying us with some interesting historical artefacts. "Wannon Stadium" is very popular with the students at play breaks. And we can't wait to start using it for lots of events!

Working Bee and Gardening

A big thank you to the parents and students that donated their time and came to our working bee on Saturday 4th October.  The stadium was looking fantastic for the opening the next day.  A special thank you to Jodie Young and Carly Behncke and crew who continue to go the extra mile and keep our school grounds and gardens looking amazing.

Thanks to Brent for bringing his awesome pressure washer and for leading the window cleaning!

Reader's Cup

Earlier this week Emma, Fiona, Jaxson and Thomas represented Cavendish Primary School in the Reader's Cup. Thanks Miss P for stepping in to take the students while I completed other meetings. Although they did not win the coveted "Cup", they did a great job preparing their video presentation retelling one of the books they were required to read for the competition.

Congratulations Lachie

The Cavendish PS would like to congratulate Mrs Neale's step son Lachie on his premiership win with the Brisbane Lions.  We also celebrated his win with his number being painted on our school oval, thanks to James Young.  Hopefully we may be able to get Lachie to do an online session with the students this Term. (And I can ask him when he is planning to play for Geelong!!)

Cricket 8's

On Thursday 30th October our Year 6 students are combining with Year 6 students from Branxholme PS to compete in the multi schools Cricket 8's competition in Hamilton.  This will be held at Pedrina Park.We will be leaving school at 9am and students will need to travel by private car.  Please contact school if your child will require a ride in and out.  Miss Purnell will be the teacher in charge for the day.  All students will need to wear Cavendish Primary sports uniform, a broad brimmed hat and bring water and enough food (snacks, lunch) for the day.  If you're in town that day and have some spare time, pop up and have a look!

School Picnic Dinner - 28th November and last School Council meeting

Mark Friday 28th November on your calendars! We will be inviting everyone to join us at school for a Picnic Dinner starting at 5:30pm. Our Year 4-6 students will also be running their final project in Economics and Business "My Business Rules: The Market Mission". The students will be planning, advertising and then running market stalls at the same time we have our Picnic Tea. Their goal is to make a profit, and donate these funds to charity. So please, come along, visit classrooms, support our 4-6 students and enjoy a Picnic Dinner.

Our next School Council Meeting is on next Wednesday 29th October at school, 7pm start. This will be our second last meeting for the year. Our last School Council meeting will be conducted at 7:30pm on the night of the Picnic Dinner.

Have a great fortnight.

Warmest regards,

Kate Steele
