Years F & 1

What an impressive start to the term. We have seen students do an incredible job of saying the sounds to read and write words. We have been working on making sure we say the sounds at the right pace to ensure we say all the sounds to help hear the word.
This term, our focus is on poetry. First, we focused on rhyming words and which parts of the words rhymed. Students experimented with rhyming words from the story, but they also had a go at thinking of words that rhyme with their names and mum's and dad's names. It was great to see the different words they were thinking of.
During our writing lesson, we put our knowledge of rhyming words to the test and had a go at writing sentences where the last word in each sentence rhymed. We practised doing a couple together first, and then the students had a go with their own. The ideas they had were fantastic. I can't wait to keep building on this and exploring it throughout the term.
Our 3D sculptures for the Fleece and Flower Show are coming along nicely. The students have worked hard to create something incredible, and I am excited for them to show you what they have made.
At the end of last term, the students completed a science experiment with Miss P. They got to use Skittles and watch the colour come out of the Skittles to create a colourful pattern. They also had a go at completing some water work experiments.
