Cycling

Term 1 2024

The cycling program has covered many skills this year in preparation for our annual

schools race. Skills include balance, line choice, body positioning and race craft. The students have been working hard to build their skills at school, and in term 2 they will be able to take these skills out to the Red Hill trail system, during our out-of-school rides late this year.

Our student's have been competing in Victoria in the VDHS rounds up at Mt Baw Baw, Mt Beauty, You Yangs and Narbethong. We have also had a few students competing up at the National Champs in Awaba, with top 20 finishes for Kody Hedin and Archie Young. Former Dromana College Cycling coach Harry Doye won the XCO National Champion and will be competing for Australia in Europe this year. Many of the Cycling Academy and Enhancement students are looking forward to mountain bike racing as the year goes on.

The Dromana College Cycling Academy has been lucky enough to gain support from Chainbrain Workshop. They have been generous enough to offer our Dromana College families, students and coaches discounts, as well as providing a complimentary same day pick-up and drop-off service for bikes that need servicing or repairs. Thank you Chainbrain for your ongoing support.

Furthermore, encouragement awards will be handed out early term 2 to some of our students whom have gone above and beyond what is expected in the program.
