Girls SAPSASA Netball Carnival 2026
On 29 May, a selected team of Year 5/6 girls attended the SAPSASA Netball Carnival at the Netball SA Stadium. The carnival followed a round-robin format, with schools competing for a place in the next stage of the SAPSASA knockout netball competition.
The girls played five matches throughout the day against strong opposition. Despite facing some challenging games, they demonstrated excellent teamwork, resilience, and sportsmanship from start to finish.
Results:
Game 1: Magill 15 defeated Stradbroke 9
Game 2: St Joseph’s Hectorville 10 defeated Magill 2
Game 3: Trinity Gardens 18 defeated Magill 2
Game 4: Rose Park 6 defeated Magill 4
Game 5: Mawson Lakes 11 defeated Magill 4
While the results did not fall in Magill’s favour overall, the girls should be extremely proud of their efforts and the way they represented our school throughout the day.
Outstanding defensive work was displayed by Madeleine L (F1), Bailee R (F2) and Jillian C (F4). Maya S (F14), Madison B (F1) and Evie G (F13) worked tirelessly through the mid-court, using their speed and determination to create opportunities for their team. In attack, Asha L (F2) and Harper J (F15) showcased accurate shooting and strong composure under pressure.
Congratulations to all players for their enthusiasm, commitment, and positive attitude. They represented Magill School with pride and should be commended for their efforts.

In Week 5, two of our Year 6 students, Oliver from F1 and Tegh from F3, proudly represented the Torrens River district at the annual SAPSASA Football Carnival held at West Beach. Districts from across South Australia attended, making for a highly competitive three days of football.
The boys played a total of nine games across the carnival, three games each day, which certainly resulted in two very tired players by Wednesday evening! Torrens River finished the carnival with an impressive six wins and three losses, earning an excellent 4th-place finish overall.
Oliver and Tegh thoroughly enjoyed the experience and formed some wonderful friendships with their teammates throughout the carnival.

State Cross Country Championships
On a very wet and wintry Thursday, 4 June, Ollie T (F1) and James R (F15) proudly represented the Torrens River District at the State Cross Country Championships. The best cross-country runners from across South Australia gathered at the Oakbank Racecourse to compete for individual and team honours.
Ollie was first to race in the 3km, 12-Year-Old Boys event. Drawing on the valuable experience he gained at last year’s championships, Ollie achieved a personal best result, finishing 72nd out of a field of 215 competitors. He completed the challenging course in an impressive time of 12 minutes and 44 seconds.
James then competed in the 3km, 11-Year-Old Boys event. Running a strong and determined race, James finished an outstanding 16th out of 180 competitors, crossing the line in a time of 11 minutes and 49 seconds.
Despite the cold, wet and demanding conditions, both boys demonstrated incredible determination, resilience and sportsmanship, pushing themselves to their limits. We are extremely proud of their achievements and the way they represented both Torrens River District and Magill School.
Congratulations, Ollie and James, on your fantastic performances.
