Leadership's Letter

With the Book Week theme, Symphony of Stories, this year’s Mazenod Literature Festival, was off to a great musical and literary beginning. First up during the Father Divine Trio ticketed event, Symphony and Stories, students read and listened as the Trio entertained Library users with their sublime music. Amy Doak, popular author of Eleanor Jones is Not a Murderer, followed with a Parent Breakfast launch and a presentation to Year 8 students. Year 7 students were lucky enough to hear Tristan Bancks, author of Two Wolves, share stories about their class text and his latest book and sequel, Raised by Wolves. Following on, Year 9 students heard from author Mark Smith. Students competed in Kahoots, Escape Rooms and Black Out Poetry for canteen vouchers.

Tyrus Leung 7M, enjoyed Tristan’s ‘willingness to tell us about his journey writing and telling us about his books is the part where I enjoy the most.’

Christian Lubowa 7G, learned ‘That anyone can do anything or make people do anything from little things. It does not take the biggest thing in the world to change us.’

Isaac Smith 7G, ‘learned the secrets to being a book writer.’

Liam D’Silva 7J, ‘enjoyed that Tristan explained more about his books and told us how he writes and gets ideas.’ and he ‘learnt that you need to have a good schedule and routine to help you form ideas. You should also use real life experiences to help you with your stories and connect yourself to the characters. This helps make the story more personal and important.’
