National Child Protection Week

The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV) is committed to ensuring the ongoing safety of children and young people and to supporting Catholic school principals, staff and parents in providing a safe and nurturing school environment. This year’s National Child Protection Week will take place from Sunday 6 September to Saturday 12 September 2026. National Child Protection Week raises awareness about the community’s collective responsibility for the care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people. This year, the focus is ‘Every conversation matters: Shifting Conversation to Action’. For Catholic schools, this provides an opportunity to emphasise their strong commitment to the safety and wellbeing of young people in their care, and the important role they play in creating safe and nurturing environments at school, online, at home and in the community.

At Mazenod College we care deeply about students, staff, and the wider community. We take a zero-tolerance approach to any form of abuse, discrimination, or misconduct. When things may not go as planned, or behaviour may not align with the values of the College, we rely upon individuals to let us know. MazSAFE is an online platform which allows individuals to voice their concerns when there is the need. Those raising a concern can remain anonymous or can provide their details so that their input can help provide a suitable resolution.

Music Gala Evening

On Wednesday September 2 the Music Gala was held in the Provence Centre. The talents and hard work of our musicians were on display and included contemporary and traditional items. It was an opportunity to acknowledge the award winners in Music and the Year 12s who have dedicated six years of service to the College’s Music Program which has included, for many, the Performing Arts Festivals, Music Curriculum, AMEB Exams, tours to Mt Gambier for the Jazz Festival, The Victorian Music Festival competitions, the College Musical, School Fetes and various performances in and beyond the College. The evening helps us to appreciate the enormity of the program and the extensive number of talented students and teachers at the College. 

Father's Day Mass & Breakfast

It was great to see over 600 dads and sons attend the Father’s Day Mass and Breakfast on Friday 4th September. The most significant influence on the core value system of young men is their father or male role model, and this influence acts as a deeply held internal guide on how to behave. Dads have an important responsibility to model what it means to be a man which is characterised by warmth, tenderness, empathy and compassion, where your sons feel safe to express their vulnerability and embrace help seeking behaviours. Happy Father’s Day this Sunday.
