We are overjoyed to share that Leighland was granted approval to extend its current registration and that approval was granted for 5 years.

This means that we have proved to be functioning in a compliant manner in all the 13 standards. When you see the headings for these standards you become aware of the thoroughness of the process, non-government schools go through to be able to operate. They are:

Student Learning
Curriculum
Assessment and Reporting
Student Welfare
Financial Resources
Staff
Facilities and Environment
Enrolment and Attendance
Number of Students
Complaints Management
Behaviour Management
Compliance with the law.

That’s impressive coverage of the operation of any school. To be approved in all these areas means that we had to know the requirements and be able to show evidence that we are functioning compliantly in these areas.

You will appreciate that we were grateful to receive the letter advising us of our compliance and approving our application.

We express thanks to all who helped in putting the materials together to demonstrate our compliance with the requirements.

In all, we express gratitude to God who enabled us and who blessed the process with this outcome.

Leadership Transition

In the course of Term 3, we have been working intensely to enable the transition from one campus principal to another at Ulverstone. Dr Katrina McNab will complete her term as principal as of Friday, 9 October and Mr Patrick Fabian will take up the role as of Monday, 12 October.

We express thanks to Dr McNab for her dedicated service over a number of years. We are excited to welcome her to the new role of Director of Teaching, Learning and Curriculum, across Leighland Burnie and Ulverstone.

We take this opportunity to welcome Mr Fabian to his new role and we pray for God’s blessing upon it.

We thank God for two dedicated members of staff, committed to the cause of Christian education, with a deep desire to (continue to) serve Leighland Christian School.

Multi–School Organisation (MSO)

We gratefully acknowledge the effort that goes into considering the future of the school, potentially as part of a multi-school organisation.

The big selling point of this arrangement surely lies in the many opportunities that are unleashed, while still providing the flexibility to choose which opportunities are engaged with and when.

In most, flexibility is lost through expanding opportunity. Not so here; the best of both worlds beckons.

I am hopeful and optimistic that the Associations will get behind the proposals and enable us to be stronger together.
