Hari Indonesia / Indonesian Day
Hari Indonesia is one of our most anticipated whole-school events, celebrated each year through games, craft, and a cultural incursion as part of our EHPS specialist program.
This year, Hari Indonesia was held on Wednesday 20 August, just a few days after Indonesian Independence Day. Students immersed themselves in Indonesian culture by participating in traditional Independence Day games, engaging craft activities, and enjoying an incursion from the Indonesian dance group Bagus Kan!
In addition, students took part in a door decorating competition with the theme Famous Indonesian Landmarks, and a lolly jar guessing competition. Our school has made a $400 donation to the Orangutan Foundation International Australia in support of their important conservation efforts. The creativity and effort shown in the door decorations were outstanding.
Leading up to the event, many students entered the poster competition organised by the Indonesian Embassy and VILTA in celebration of the 80th Indonesian Independence Day. We are proud to share that seven EHPS students achieved top-three positions in their year levels and were awarded prizes for their efforts.
The day concluded with a vibrant whole-school assembly, attended by parents and guardians. Highlights included student performances alongside Bagus Kan! and presentations by the 2025 winners of the Sayembara Lisan Indonesian speaking competition.
The celebration was a wonderful success, offering students a rich opportunity to explore and appreciate Indonesian culture as part of our Indonesian language and cultural program.
