We are the Breakfast Club!

What we do every week:
As part of the Grade 6 Young Leaders program at Albanvale Primary School, the Breakfast Club gathers once a week to deliver delicious breakfast foods to each class. We help deliver foods like milk, oranges, apples and toast that we receive from the organisation Foodbank. This makes it possible for every student in the school to start their day with a healthy meal.
What Is Foodbank?
Foodbank is Australia's largest food relief organisation, providing food and groceries to charities and school breakfast programs across the country. They work with the entire food and grocery industry, including farmers, manufacturers, and retailers, to collect food that may be out of specification, close to expiry, or excess to requirements, and distribute it to those in need.
Albanvale is a privileged member of the organisation and we are glad for the food and drink that they provide us.
Why is it important to eat breakfast?
It is important to eat breakfast because we might get hungry during class and have no energy to learn. Skipping breakfast can lead to a number of negative effects, including lower energy levels and difficulties with concentrating. Eating breakfast replenishes our glucose levels, boosts energy and alertness, and provides us with essential nutrients.
Even if you don’t have the time in the morning, make sure you have something provided by the Breakfast club in the classroom between 8:45 - 9am, to maximise your energy and learning!
