Term 3 Chess Club Simul with International Master Leonid Sandler

On Monday 15 September, International Master Leonid Sandler returned to Mordialloc College for another simultaneous exhibition match against students and staff.

Despite a number of Chess Club regulars being away, there was still a strong turnout, with plenty of eager challengers lining up to test their skills. As always, Leonid played the white pieces and circulated from board to board, making his moves in a matter of seconds.

Several staff and students managed to hold their own and even found themselves in winning positions late into lunch. But in true Sandler style, he turned the tables and maintained his undefeated streak once more.

We look forward to his return in Term 4, when we’ll be aiming to finally land that elusive win. Until then, Chess Club runs every Monday lunchtime in LC 5. Whether you’re keen to hone your tactics or simply curious to give chess a go, come along and be part of the action!
