Principal's Message

Kate Whitford

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Regional Athletics

Congratulations to our team of athletes who travelled to Bendigo for  the Regional competition on Monday. It was great to have so many students from our school competing at this level, in fact our school had one of the largest representation across the entire region. A special mention to Ava and Indi who medaled against tough competition. Indi will now compete at State level at the end of the month!

School Visits

As you all know, last week our staff travelled to other schools in the area or in Melbourne to watch and learning from others. We focussed on the VTLM 2.0 implementaiton and the Wellbeing supports in place. This was an invaluable experience. We all came back with so many great ideas on ways we can improve our practice. Some of these changes are quick wins while others will take years to implement properly. Thank you again to our families for supporting this day.

School Council

The October meeting of School Council is set  for Tuesday, October 20th  at 6:30pm in the staff conference room.

Classes 2027- Student Placements                                                                                                   Staff  will soon begin the conversations and work around class groupings for 2027. If your child will not be attending Rochester PS next year or you know of somebody who is yet to enrol could you please contact the office ASAP.

If you have any specific requests regarding the placement of your child for 2027 please make contact with Kate to discuss before Friday 30th October.

Our 2027 classes will consider parent request along with student needs from a social, academic, wellbeing and behavioural perspective. Teaching teams, Specialist staff, ES staff and Leadership review all classes to ensure the most appropriate placement of all students.

A range of factors are considered in the process of forming each class:

  • an academically and wellbeing compatible balance
  •  a ‘social behaviour’ balance
  • Children need to be placed with familiar faces while at the same time acknowledging that some children work better with certain students rather than others irrespective of friendships.
