Celebrating a Special Milestone: Grade 6 Confirmation!

We have some wonderful news to share! This term marks a truly significant milestone for our Grade 6 students as they prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation. There is already a wonderful buzz of excitement in the classrooms as our students begin this meaningful journey.

Confirmation is a beautiful opportunity for our oldest students to take the next step in their faith journey, sealing the promises made at their Baptism and welcoming the fruits of the Holy Spirit into their lives. As a school community, we could not be prouder of the leadership, maturity, and heart these students are already bringing to the preparation process.

Our families, staff and students have already joined together to work with our wonderful guest presenter Brittany Ford from the Mary MacKillop centre in preparation for the sacrament. Last weekend we celebrated our Confirmation commitment masses at 6pm on Saturday evening and 11am on Sunday morning in St Andrew's church. Thank you to all of our candidates and families who showed their commitment to this important faith journey by attending and celebrating with the parish community.

A reminder to our confirmation candidates that they should add the sacrament of confirmation to their sacramental stole for the celebration of the sacrament and wear this on the evening of the sacrament. If your child requires a sacramental stole please reach out - the school can provide this. Families however are responsible for organinsing their own decoration of the stole.

It is essential that all confirmation cards are returned to class room teachers immediately. This is a requirement in the preparation for the sacrament.

How You Can Support Your Child:

We encourage you to chat with your child at home about this special step. Asking them about the Confirmation name they are considering or sharing your own memories of the sacrament is a beautiful way to share in their excitement.

Journeying Together covers the sacraments most commonly celebrated with primary-school-aged children - Reconciliation (Penance), Eucharist, and Confirmation. This resource will complement your child’s sacrament preparation at their Catholic primary school or in a parish catechetical setting.

Each sacrament module includes four sessions. Each session includes an invitation to explore and integrate the family’s lived experience with concepts from Scripture, the Church and the sacraments, along with opportunities to pray together.

We hope that by opening this opportunity, many will encounter Jesus and engage with their faith in a fresh and meaningful way.

Please keep our Grade 6 students, their families, and their teachers in your thoughts and prayers as they prepare for this sacred occasion. We look forward to celebrating this joyful milestone together as a community!
