Athletics Day: Fun, Fast Times & House Pride
What a fantastic celebration of sport, spirit, and community! Our school Athletics Day on Friday 31 July was a resounding success, filled with vibrant house colors and incredible effort from all our students. From our youngest competitors taking their first leaps to our senior athletes pushing for personal bests, the day was a true showcase of what makes our school community so special.
For our Prep - Year 2 students, the focus was all about engaging in the joy of sport.
The school grounds were buzzing with action as our junior athletes rotated through the tabloid events. Designed for maximum fun, teamwork, fundamental motor skills and participation, the station-based activities had our younger students running, throwing, kicking, and dodging their way through the session. Seeing their enthusiastic high-fives and boundless energy was a wonderful reminder of what sports day is truly about—falling in love with physical activity and cheering on your friends.
Years 3 to 6: Track, Field, and District Bound
For our Year 3 through Year 6 students, the competitive energy was turned right up. Athletes took to the track and field with determination, demonstrating grit, talent, and fantastic sportspersonship across every event.
With official times and distances being recorded, students weren't just competing for house points, they were vying for spots on our representative team. The competition was fierce but friendly, and the results from the day will be used to select the squad that will represent our school on the District Athletics Day. An announcement on the sports day winning team will be made at assembly soon.
An event of this scale doesn't just happen overnight. A massive thank you goes to Alex Heenan, our PE Teacher, for the incredible organisation and hard work behind the scenes to make the day run seamlessly. We also extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible school community. A huge thank you goes to our wonderful teachers for running events so smoothly, as well as the parents and grandparents who pitched in. Whether you were soaking up the sunshine on the sidelines or helping out with the activities, your support created a wonderfully vibrant atmosphere
The sporting spirit doesn't stop with Athletics Day! Our school swimming program is currently underway, giving students a fantastic opportunity to build confidence, improve technique, and master vital water safety skills.
This term’s program is tailored specifically for our Prep to Year 2 students and our Year 5/6 classes. It’s wonderful to see our students bringing the same energy and enthusiasm from the athletics track straight into the pool!
Thank you once again to everyone who made Athletics Day 2026 a highlight of the school year. Wear your house colors with pride!
Supporting our staff while planning for the future
Currently, all Catholic schools are working through planning and budgeting activities for 2027 to ensure we are well placed to support our staff, students and school communities in the coming year. This includes looking at how we can accommodate the changes likely to flow from a new Enterprise Bargaining Agreement (EBA) with school staff.
We recognise the significant financial pressures many households are facing, and we are making a conscious effort to ensure these costs are not passed on through significant fee increases.
We will continue to keep our parent community informed throughout this process. As always, our focus remains on maintaining strong school communities and continuing to deliver a high-quality Catholic education for every student.
