Chinese Club – Siumai and Chinese Drinks Tasting

Last week in Chinese Club we enjoyed various different Chinese food and drinks. This included Siumai, a small, open faced traditional Chinese steamed dumpling; handmade by Ms Lee, as well as two sweet tea drinks. This was an amazing experience for all of us and on top of the delicious foods we had a cultural lesson where Ms Lee taught us where each food originated. The drinks, consisting of Wang lao ji, a sugary herbal tea and Chrysanthemum tea were a new taste to our palate, and proved to be surprisingly refreshing accompaniments to our meal.

Overall, the food unit in Chinese Club has been wonderful, with being able to make mochis, taste hot and cold teas and bring in Chinese snacks for a movie watching session. We would definitely recommend this to anyone who is curious about China and its culture. Chinese Club has seen great growth and many students showing up every Thursday at recess. A very big thank you to Ms Lee for running and arranging this awesome club for students to enjoy and learn.
