Concert Club #2
Featuring Elgar’s Cello Concerto and The Alpine Suite by R Strauss takes place tonight at the Sydney Opera House. Students are to meet Mrs Westhoff outside the Concert Hall cloakroom at 6:30 pm for a 7:00 pm concert start. There are still a few tickets available on Clipboard.
HSC Trials Music Performance exams
Break a leg! Chookas! to our talented Year 12 Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension students as they perform their repertoire at their Trial Performance exams for external examiners next Wednesday 5 August.
NO Band Room entry – Wednesday 5 August from 10:00 am – 3:05 pm
Due to the HSC Trials Music Performance exams, please note that there will be NO access to the band room for instruments or lessons on Wednesday 5 August from 10:00 am – 3:05 pm.
Students can leave their instruments in the Music office if required.
Ensemble rehearsal cancellations next week
There will also be NO Junior Concert Band or Training Band next week due to the HSC Music Trials in the Band Room.
Lights, Camera, Action!
We are very excited to announce that our Band Room now has fabulous new lighting, courtesy of PAPA.
Our first performance in our newly improved performance space will be on Wednesday 27 August at the HSC Major works Showcase where our Music 1, Music 2 and Music Extension students will perform their HSC repertoire. This is always a sensational night, and we hope you can come and support our musicians before their final practical exams in early September.
Drumline Competition
We wish our Drumline, under the guidance of Dr JB Smith, the best of luck as they compete at the Australian Drumline Championships this weekend.
Year 11 Elective Music: Australian Music Composition workshop day at MLC, Burwood
A reminder to our Year 11 Music 1 and Music 2 students to be ready for an 8:15 am departure from the foyer tomorrow morning for what promises to be an interesting day of creativity and inspiration from some of Australia’s most well-regarded composers and performers. School uniform obligatory.
Year 10 Elective Music Student Spotlight: PJ Keledjian
We are excited to announce that Year 10 vocalist, PJ Keledjian, is releasing his debut original single, Dreaming, on 28 August 2026.
Composed and performed by PJ, Dreaming is an uplifting song about believing in your dreams and never giving up on them, no matter your age or circumstances. It encourages listeners to stay hopeful, work towards their goals, and keep believing in themselves, even when faced with challenges. The song reminds us that dreams never expire and that persistence and determination can turn them into reality.

DRAMA EXCURSION
Bennelong in London
Students should wear their full winter uniform and meet at the veranda at 12:00 noon prompt. They should bring their lunch and water bottle with them as well as an opal card for travel.
DRAMA COCURRICULAR SHOWCASE
TREASURE ISLAND
Audition Dates (CHOOSE ONE SESSION TO ATTEND)
Friday 14 August, 3:30 pm – 5:00 pm
Sunday 16 August, 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Students will be provided with a short monologue to prepare and will also participate in a workshop involving drama activities and performance exercises inspired by the style and themes of the play.
Rehearsals will begin Week 1 of Term 4.
Any student who could not come to the information session but is interested in auditioning please email me directly and I will send you the information booklet.
Upcoming DRAMA events for Term 3:
(Week 2) Wednesday 29 July at 12:00 noon: Elective Drama students go to STC Wharf 1 to see Bennelong in London.
(Week 3) Sunday 9 August 10:00 am - 2:00 pm: Intermediate Drama Ensemble will rehearse their scenes. Each group will be given a timeslot.
(Week 4) Thursday 13 August 5:00 pm: Intermediate & Senior Drama Ensemble Showcase. All students involved should stay behind after school to rehearse. Ms Lindley will send home an email regarding costume that can be brought from home to wear.
(Week 4) Friday 14 August 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm: Treasure Island audition #1
(Week 4) Sunday 16 August 10:00 am - 11:30 am: Treasure Island audition #2
(Week 9) Wednesday 16 September 10:00 am: Elective Drama students go to Belvoir Street Theatre to see The Book of Everything.
(Week 10) Monday 21 September 3:20 pm - 5:00 pm: Treasure Island cast meet up, workshop and costume measurements taken.
