Acting Principal Update

Can you believe we are already halfway through Term 3? Time certainly flies at Menzies Creek Primary School when there is so much fun, connection and learning happening each day. And there is still so much to look forward to this term! From our Science Week excursion and Book Week celebrations, to our second-hand book sale, baked potato fundraiser, Father’s Day celebrations and stall, Market Day and, of course, our much-loved school production, there is plenty happening across the weeks ahead. We are looking forward to making the most of every moment and continuing to create lots of wonderful memories together.

Science Week

There has been a flurry of Science experiments happening across the school this week. Our classroom teachers will tell you all about it in their newsletter items next week, however, here is a sneak peek of what our senior students got up to today...

Senior School students have been conducting experiments based on chemical and physical science. Today they looked at the different ways various liquids and solids can mix. They have been exposed to the terms reversible, irreversible, soluble and insoluble.

Science Week Excursion

We are all looking forward to our excursion on Friday, as part of our Science Week celebrations. While the majority of our day will be at Lilydale High School’s Zoology Centre, the afternoon will be spent at Lillydale Lake. With the uncertainty of rain, could you please ensure you pack a raincoat for your child/ren.

Also, a reminder to please pack a snack, lunch and a water bottle, as we will not have the option to buy food at either of our locations.

All of our staff will be in attendance, therefore, we won’t have anyone onsite at Menzies Creek Primary School. If you need to get in contact with us, please call the school and it will divert to a mobile phone we will have with us.

If you have a specialist who comes onsite on Friday, please let them know that we are out for the day.

No Assembly – 21st August

Due to our whole school Science Week excursion to the Lilydale High School's Zoology Centre on Friday 21st August, unfortunately, we will have to cancel our scheduled Assembly.

Our next assembly will be on Friday 4th September at 3:00pm where we will celebrate all of our superstar students, including those who would have been receiving awards this week.

Book Week

We are excited to celebrate Children’s Book Week at Menzies Creek Primary School with our much-loved Book Week Dress Up Day on Thursday 27th August.

This year’s theme, ‘Symphony of Stories’, celebrates the joy, creativity and imagination that comes from sharing stories. The theme has been beautifully brought to life by award-winning author and illustrator Briony Stewart, whose vibrant artwork captures the magic of books and the wonderful worlds they can take us to.

Students are invited to come dressed as their favourite book character on Thursday 27th August as we celebrate our love of reading together. We will also be inviting our First Steps to Prep participants to join in the fun and be part of our Book Week celebrations.

We can’t wait to see the incredible creativity and imagination on display as our school community comes together to celebrate the stories, characters and books that inspire us all.

Book Week – Author Visit

Our junior students are very lucky to welcome author Eliza Gutowska into their classroom during Book Week. Eliza will share her new book with the students and talk with them about the story, characters and ideas behind her work.

The visit will also connect with the learning our students are doing in Kitchen Garden, providing a wonderful opportunity to bring stories and hands-on learning together.

Lockdown Drill

During the week commencing Monday 24th August, we will be conducting a Lockdown Drill. Students will be informed and prepared in advance. While we’re unable to share the exact day, we would appreciate you also reminding your child that a drill will take place at some point that week. Thank you for your support with this.

Father’s Day Stall

It’s time to find something special for Dad or another special person and shop at our Father’s Day Stall on Friday 4th September. We recommend a limit of $10 per child, with siblings shopping together to help ensure the gifts they choose are coordinated.

A huge thank you to our wonderful Fundraising Committee for the time, effort and care they put into organising this special event and making sure every student has something special to take home with them.

Father’s Day and Special Friends Celebration

I'm excited to invite our wonderful dads and special friends to our upcoming celebration on Monday 7th September where you will be invited into your child's classroom from 3pm to partake in activities with them.

2026 School Production

School production rehearsals are in full swing, and we can’t wait for you to see our performance of ‘We Speak for the Trees’. A reminder that our school production will be held at Emerald Secondary College in the EPAC on Thursday 10th September, starting at 7pm. We will also be holding a rehearsal in the EPAC during the school day on Thursday 10th September. Tickets are now on sale. Head over to the ‘Production’ page for more details.
