Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Carers and Community Members,

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding term, there is much to celebrate at St Joseph’s. Our students have continued to embrace the many opportunities available to them, recently achieving 4th place at the ACS Brain Olympia Final, while two of our Soccer and Netball Gala Day teams finished runners-up. Our Public Speaking Cup has also been a wonderful celebration of student voice, with every student participating at class level before our finalists took to the stage on Tuesday. Congratulations to Charlie Schalk, who was named the overall St Joseph’s Public Speaking Cup Champion. While we celebrate these achievements, I am equally proud of the enthusiasm, courage and willingness to have a go demonstrated by all our students.

It has also been wonderful to welcome our 2027 Kindergarten students as they begin their transition to St Joseph’s. A special thank you to Miss McShane and Mrs Core for the care and preparation they have put into coordinating our transition program and helping our newest Joeys feel comfortable and excited about starting school. The children already look very much part of the St Joseph’s family in their transition T-shirts. We look forward to continuing to build their confidence and sense of belonging over the coming months.

As Term 3 concludes, we also thank Mrs Kate McCormack for the significant contribution she has made to St Joseph’s, particularly to our Stage 1 students and team. Kate’s care, flexibility and commitment have been greatly valued and we wish her every happiness as she relocates and prepares for the exciting arrival of her first child. In Term 4, Mrs Kylie McCarthy will join the Stage 1 teaching team for the remainder of the year. We are very grateful to Kylie for stepping into this role and providing our students and families with continuity and familiarity as they finish the year.

Thank you to our students, staff and families for another wonderful term and for the many ways you contribute to the life of St Joseph’s. I hope everyone enjoys a safe, restful and well-earned holiday break and I look forward to welcoming our students back on Tuesday, 13 October.
