JUNIOR GIRLS FOOTBALL
Our junior girls football team had a fantastic day of competition, showing great teamwork, pressure and determination across all four matches.
We opened the day against Ky P-12 and controlled the game from the outset. Strong defensive pressure and excellent ball movement created plenty of opportunities going forward. Alida was outstanding in front of goal, finishing with three majors, while the team also added three behinds in a convincing performance.
The girls carried that momentum into their match against St Aug's. Once again, our defensive efforts were a highlight, with players working hard to win the ball back and keep it in our forward half. Goals were shared across the team, with Lottie (2), Chelsea, Heidi, Willow and Maddie all hitting the scoreboard, along with two behinds.
Our third game against St Joseph’s A, proved to be the toughest contest of the day. Despite controlling much of the play and spending long periods in attack, we were unable to convert our opportunities. St Joseph’s capitalised on an opportunity out the back to score the only goal of the match, while we managed three behinds. The result certainly didn’t reflect the balance of play, with our girls unlucky not to come away with the win after such a strong performance.
The team responded brilliantly in the final game against St Joseph’s B. The girls applied relentless pressure around the contest and moved the ball with confidence. Lottie (3), Alida (3), Milla (2) and Maddie all kicked goals in an impressive team display, with the side also adding three behinds.
Across the day, the girls demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, teamwork and effort. A particular highlight was the team’s defensive pressure, with St Joseph’s A being the only side able to score against us all day. It was a terrific performance from the entire squad and a great reward for their hard work and commitment.
