Transition from Primary to Secondary School

Webinar - Wednesday, 19 November 2025 | 07:00 PM to 08:30 PM

Transitioning from primary school to secondary school may be a significant change for some students.

Although most students (and parents) will have a sense of optimism, some may feel a sense of anxiety; and it’s a journey of change that can be made positive with preparation, planning and support.

This webinar will be presented by Kate Wilde, Director of The Human Development Workshop and will include:

  • The basic information – routines, public transport and homework
  • The 'tricky' stuff – friends, bullying and anxiety
  • The important information – workload, getting help and working with your child’s personal and learning strengths
  • The complex information – managing technology, school refusal, supporting your young person’s mental health and flourishing in school.

Introducing ConnectUs.

ConnectUs is an online youth service directory that connects young people aged 10-25 with a wide range of support services in the Maroondah, Knox, and Yarra Ranges regions of Victoria. The directory is a resource for both young people and those who support them, listing services for health and wellbeing, community programs, recreation, education, and employment.

Why use it?

  • Local and accessible – search by postcode to see services available right here in Heathmont and surrounding suburbs
  • Comprehensive – covers areas such as health, housing, education, mental health, community centres, playgroups, and more
  • Free to use – families can explore and contact services directly at no cost
  • Tailored to your needs – filter by service type to quickly find exactly what you’re looking for
