From the Classroom

Middles News
In English, Middle A, are about to complete the exciting text 200 Minutes of Danger by Jack Heath. The students have really enjoyed engaging with the short, fast-paced stories, which are full of suspense, problem-solving, and brave characters facing challenging situations. Students have been developing their comprehension skills in a range of activities. They have worked on summarising key events, identifying character traits and motivations, and discussing how the author builds tension to create suspense. Students have also had opportunities to be creative by imagining and writing their own alternate endings.
Middle B have started reading 'The Twits' by Roald Dahl. Our first task was to draw 'Mr T' (didn't want the students to know who the character was) from a description. We will be exploring both the text and characters over the next few weeks.
In Maths, Middle A, students have began a new unit on Multiplication and Division. Students are learning to use a range of strategies to solve number problems, including skip counting, repeated addition, arrays, equal groups, partitioning numbers, and using known facts to solve unknown facts. These strategies support students in developing a strong understanding of how multiplication and division are connected.
Students have been involved in hands-on activities, group tasks, and problem-solving challenges that encourage them to explain their thinking and show their working in different ways.
Middle B are learning about fact families and how multiplication and division are like brothers and sisters. We have learnt some cool strategies to determine if a number is divisible by 2, 3, 5.

If you have any medications that need to be dropped off, please make sure you drop them off with Pippa Davis in a clearly named zip lock bag.
Students will to bring their own lunch, snack and brain food with a clearly labelled drink bottle on Monday in their back pack that they are taking with them on the bus. Please feel free to include their own sunscreen and students must also bring their hat.
