Principal's Message

Wishing You a Joyful and Blessed Easter

As we come to the end of a wonderful Term 1, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our families for your continued support, partnership, and commitment to our school community. We wish you all a safe, restful, and joyful Easter break.

May this be a time of renewal, peace, and time well spent with loved ones.

It was great to see so many families joining us for our Date with Data meetings in Primary and our Goal Setting meetings in Secondary. These conversations are an important part of ensuring our students are supported and engaged in their learning.

This week also saw our K-6 students enjoy their Fun Run event, where students proudly represented their school houses in a colourful and energetic fun run around our school. Meanwhile, our Year 5–10 students took part in a House Challenge game of 'Capture the Flag' on the oval on Wednesday afternoon – a wonderful way to build teamwork and celebrate the end of term.

Today, we also enjoyed our delightful K-2 Easter Hat Parade. It was fantastic to see so many families come along to support the children and stay to enjoy a shared morning tea. Thank you for helping us make this such a special event for our youngest learners.

Celebrating Cathy Downes’ Retirement

At the end of this term, we also bid a fond farewell to Mrs Cathy Downes, who is retiring after many years of dedicated service to Catholic education. Cathy’s care, commitment, and presence have made a lasting impact on students, staff, and families across her career. We thank her sincerely for everything she has brought to our community and wish her all the very best for her well-deserved retirement.

Best Wishes to Miss Celine Depczynski

We also send our very best wishes to Miss Celine Depczynski, who is finishing her time here at St Philomena's and will be heading overseas next term before returning to continue her teaching career. Celine has made a wonderful contribution to St Philomena’s during her time with us, and we are excited to see where her journey as a teacher will take her. Safe travels, Miss Depczynski, and may the road ahead be filled with great experiences and opportunities.

Holy Week and Easter Celebrations

As we journey through Holy Week, we are reminded of the great significance of this time in our Catholic faith. Holy Week invites us to walk with Jesus through His Passion, death, and glorious Resurrection. It is a time of deep reflection, hope, and celebration.

We warmly invite all families to join us and our parish community at St Francis Xavier’s Parish, Moree, as we come together in prayer and worship during this sacred time. Sharing in the Easter Triduum — Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and the Easter Vigil — offers a beautiful way to grow closer to Christ and renew our faith as a family and a community.

Thank you once again for a wonderful term. May the joy of Easter fill your hearts and homes. We look forward to seeing everyone back, refreshed and ready, for Term 2.
