Getting Creative

What a wonderful start to Visual Arts 2026 by the Ormond PS artists!

Foundation

Foundation have explored the characteristics of Fish whilst using soft pastels to complete artworks based on the picture storybook 'Happy' by Mies van Hout. Such a fabulous range of emotions were chosen for their fish's expressed feelings.

Year 1/2

Year 1 and Year 2 have been working tirelessly to turn "The Dot" paintings into fabulous birds just like in the picture story book "Feather's for Phoebe".  Students applied a range of skills and elements to these artworks including pattern making, symmetry and mixed-media collage. Mrs D and I are very excited to see their finished artworks as they add the final touches to their birds.

Year 3 to 6 students have been creating artworks

in celebration of the Lunar New Year of the Horse.

Year 3/4

After exploring Chinese paper cutting known as Jianzhi, our Year 3 and 4 students practised their observational drawing skills to sketch a horse, cut around their intricate artworks and then placed them onto gold or silver paper.

Year 5 and 6 have also demonstrated a wonderful ability to sketch horses and are currently exploring the application of an ink wash with focus on shadow and light to create 3D form and achieve a higher level of realism.
