From the Deputy Principal

One School
If you were to pressure me to choose only one thing as my favourite aspect of GSG, it would be that we are truly one school, connected from Djinda to Year Twelve. I love that my youngest child entered Pre‑Primary in Camfield and will graduate from Year Twelve in Camfield and throughout that entire journey he will be able to mix with students of all ages and share a common experience. I love that I can step just outside my office, in the heart of the Secondary School and within 30 seconds see our ECC students playing on their playground and Primary School students’ work displayed in the corridors. I also love that students of all ages catch the bus together.
Next term, as part of our Community Service program in the Secondary School, our older students will be visiting the Primary School to support reading and mathematics, as well as engage in pastoral conversations about how to be a good friend to others. These experiences help build strong role models and remind us that we belong to a community that is much greater than ourselves.
Today, we came together to celebrate our Easter Service on the final day of term, followed by our Whole School Cross Country Carnival. One of the great highlights of the event was seeing Secondary School students line the course to encourage our ECC students to do their very best, while Primary and Secondary students shared in House games and activities. It was also wonderful to see our Primary students looking up to our senior students as they led the school and gave their all in the race.
Another valuable element of the Cross Country Carnival is the opportunity it provides to invite families to join in the fun, spend time together and cheer our students on. It is also particularly special for our boarding families to travel to Albany, attend a significant school event and then collect their children to begin the holiday period together.
Thank you to all families and staff who joined us and helped make this event such a positive and community‑focused experience.
